About this item

"Pua" is flower in Hawaiian, and numerous songs and dances have been created to celebrate the many flowers of Hawaii. Pualei is also the name of the girl who posed for this painting from 1990. Dressed in traditional "Princess Kaiulani" muumuu, she sits in contemplation, surrounded by hibiscus, next to a gold vase full of all kinds of flowers: some Hawaiian, some from far away places, some fantastical.
To me, it is a quiet painting; I created it during a time of great chaos, and it's creation became that quiet place I could go to.
This is a giclee, a print on canvas, from the original painting, and stretched around canvas bars to order. I stretch and sign them, (personalized, if you like). It's suitable for framing - no glass, please -- or just run a colorful ribbon (or dried maile lei) around the edge to cover the staples and hang it as is.
However you display Pualei, make it your quiet place to go to when the day is full of chaos and turmoil.
Enjoy, and Aloha.
