This is a signed giclee print on canvas, stretched and stapled over bars from an original painting of the same name.
One of my best-loved poems is by Longfellow: "The Children's Hour." If you have children or grandchildren, this poem is especially appropriate. My father read it to us, and I read it to my daughters. The last verse, to me, says it all about the bond between mother and daughter:
And there will I keep you forever,
Yes, forever and a day,
Till the walls shall crumble to ruin,
And moulder in dust away!
I stretch the giclees myself, and sign them "Aloha, Diana Hansen-Young, 2012." I will personalize them ("To Alice, aloha", etc) if you send me a note with your order. You can frame this (no glass, please) or run a ribbon around the edge to hide the staples and hang it as is.
I urge you to find the entire poem online and read it to your children. Or, if they are grown and far away, hang the giclee, and think about how long we will love them: Forever and a Day.
